What is the Shield?
The Shield is a locally made HR and Safety app that can be accessed on the Farmers mobile and computer. Its intuitive interface makes it accessible to farmers of all tech proficiencies, eliminating the confusion and complication often associated with HR and Safety management.
Safety Features
Many farmers conduct safety practices correctly but fail to document them. For example, with inductions Farmers will spend considerable time with an employee checking if they can drive a piece of equipment and providing training when needed. However, typically the Farmer won’t get back to the office to record this information. The Shield facilitates on-the-spot recording of all safety training and competency assessments, crucial for legal and safety reasons.
The Shield also makes it easy to keep safety registers update to date. The Shield has a built-in chemical data base, where the Farmer can select a chemical and automatically the Safety Data Sheet and a draft Risk Assessment is populated in the register. The Shield keeps the SDS’s and Risk Assessments up to date, further reducing the burden on the Farmer.
Every aspect of safety management is streamlined with the Shield. With just a few taps farmers can complete farm inspections, report hazards and incidents, conduct equipment pre-starts and induct staff. The Shield also has a Risk Tool “Think First”, designed to prompt employees to stop and think before they engage in a potentially dangerous activity.

Every employee has their own employee records file on the Shield. In this file is all the employee’s personal details, training records, licenses, employment information etc. The Shield automatically issues reminders when training and licenses are due to expire.

Farmers often operate in remote locations, far from immediate assistance. In such environments, having access to tools is essential. With its offline capacity the Shield works even if when the connection doesn’t. The Shield equips farmers with the knowledge and assistance they need to tackle any HR or safety situation.
