ProcessWorx’s launches long awaited Mobile App

Danielle McNamee started ProcessWorx in 2012, and quickly identified a real need for businesses to have help with managing Human Resources and Work Health & Safety.  What became clear to Danielle was that technology was becoming increasing important in the delivery of HR and WHS help to businesses. Clients were requesting easy ways to access HR and WHS management systems, including inducting staff online, recording hazards and incidents and accessing standard documents.

Fortunately, Danielle’s husband Michael McNamee had a strong technical background.  Michael joined ProcessWorx and was able to complement Danielle’s expertise in HR and WHS with his technological skills.  As a result, the ProcessWorxPortal was born, ProcessWorx’s first product where businesses could easily access HR and WHS management systems and have the confidence that all documents were kept up to date by ProcessWorx.  Clients loved the easy access to HR and WHS documents as well as the professional support of the ProcessWorx   HR and WHS Advisors.  However, they requested additional features on the ProcessWorxPortal and were looking for a mobile solution which would give them access to the HR and WHS tools in the field.

In 2020 ProcessWorxShield software was launched, which provided significantly greater functionality than the previous Portal.  The software had a full employee kiosk, providing confidential employee information management, animated online inductions which covered key HR and WHS topics and extensive safety registers to meet the record keeping requirements of the new Work Health Safety Legislation.   ProcessWorx added an extensive Chemical Database which meant that a client could select a chemical and the corresponding Safety Data Sheet and Draft Risk Assessment would automatically be displayed.  However, there was still the requirement to download checklists for Inductions, Prestarts and Site Inspections, to then complete and upload them.  Clients, particularly our Farmers continued to request less paper and a user-friendly Mobile App that would interact with ProcessWorxShield.

Danielle and Michael had been saving to fund the development of a mobile app for ProcessWorxShield.  Whilst Michael’s technological expertise and that of his IT Team had allowed internal development to date, he had no experience with mobile app development.  ProcessWorx spent 2022, consulting with farmers to determine what the key features of a mobile app should be.  Overwhelmingly, the feedback was that simplicity and practicality was important.  ProcessWorx developed a detailed scope and then went searching for a development partner.  ProcessWorx were committed to engaging with a West Australian business with local developers and found this partnering with Blue Sky.  Blue Sky officially joined forces with Horizon Digital earlier this year.  Their team have been excellent to work with, especially given the rigorous timelines.

Danielle and Michael decided to implement a first release in November for our farming clients.   A modified version of the Mobile App will be launched to ProcessWorx’s clients in other industries in January.  Clients will not be required to pay additional fees to access the App.

ProcessWorx intend to further develop the Mobile App over time, based on client feedback.  The new App partners well with the ProcessWorxShield software.  Some of the common features that are shared include:

Employee Kiosk

  • Employees can easily access and update their personal information, ensuring that records are always up-to-date.
  • Managers have easy access to comprehensive employee records, including inductions, training, personal details, and HR records.

Inductions and Training

  • Conduct inductions anywhere with user-friendly checklists equipped with an easy sign-off feature.
  • Seamlessly record workers’ competencies on the go.
  • Upload third-party training records and set email reminders for expiry dates.

Safe Work Procedures

  • Access all relevant Safe Work documents in one place.

Task/Action Management

  • The Action Register provides you with a to-do list to implement the ProcessWorxShield WHS Management System.
  • Add and track actions effortlessly, ensuring accountability and completion.

Site Inspections

  • Simplify site inspections with a comprehensive checklist.
  • All site inspection records are automatically saved in the Site Inspection Register.

Hazard & Incident Reporting

  • Report new hazards and incidents with ease, including a photo feature for detailed documentation.
  • Safely store reported hazards and incidents in corresponding registers for efficient management and resolution.

Think First Risk Tool

  • Encourage employees to prioritize safety by using the simple risk tool that prompts risk assessment before task execution.
