ProcessWorx Team Development Day – The Importance of Investing in your team.
This year has been challenging for the ProcessWorx Team, with high work volumes and various personal challenges affecting some team members, including myself. To address these issues and foster professional development, Marie, our Operations Manager, and I decided to organise a much-needed Team Development Day (TDD) off-site.
We were fortunate to secure a beautiful venue at the South of Perth Yacht Club, offering stunning views of the Swan River and Perth Skyline, along with delectable food throughout the day. A big shout-out to Sara, the head of our HR Consultant Team, and Marie Patterson, our Operations Manager, for organising this awesome day for the team.
The TDD kicked off with a LinkedIn Training session by Natalie Lane from Your Hive. This insightful workshop emphasised the significance of personal profiles and building individual brands while also supporting the ProcessWorx brand. It opened our eyes to better utilising LinkedIn for both our personal career growth and promoting ProcessWorx’s image.
At ProcessWorx, we highly value the DISC profiling tool to help employees understand their behavioral styles and those of their colleagues. Sara, our accredited DISC practitioner, facilitated a fantastic session at the TDD. DISC (Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, and Conscientiousness) offers valuable insights into communication preferences, problem-solving approaches, and work dynamics. Armed with this knowledge, team members can collaborate more effectively, resolve conflicts, and adapt their communication styles to enhance productivity.
Beyond individual self-awareness, DISC fosters empathy and understanding among team members. Recognising and appreciating diverse behavioral styles enables employees to leverage each other’s strengths and navigate challenges with ease. Additionally, DISC plays a crucial role in leadership development, empowering managers to understand team members’ motivations and communication preferences, thereby fostering a supportive and encouraging leadership style that inspires the team to perform at their best.
To encourage better team dynamics, I’ve encouraged our management team to sit down with each of their team members to understand their DISC profiles and, armed with that knowledge, work more effectively with their teams.
In today’s fast-paced work environment, stress can negatively impact employee well-being and productivity. To address this, we invited a mental health professional from the Black Dog Institute to conduct a managing stress workshop during the TDD. This workshop provided effective techniques to identify stressors, manage responses, and promote work-life balance. Mindfulness exercises, time management strategies, and healthy coping mechanisms were taught to help employees tackle challenges with resilience and mental clarity. By reducing stress levels, we aim to boost focus, creativity, and job satisfaction, resulting in a more engaged and productive workforce.
The techniques learned during the workshop have proven beneficial beyond the workplace, extending to personal lives as well. As individuals become better equipped to handle stress and maintain a healthy work-life balance, they experience an improved overall quality of life, leading to increased job satisfaction and motivation.
To address the team’s requests, we included a Q&A session on resolving Microsoft Word issues. Taryn from WiseClick provided a wealth of productivity-boosting tips and tricks, leaving the team feeling more empowered to work efficiently.
Before wrapping up the day with sunset drinks on the beautiful balcony and a lovely dinner, I expressed my heartfelt appreciation for the team and provided a brief update on ProcessWorx’s future plans. The TDD served as a terrific bonding experience, fostering a stronger sense of unity and commitment among the team members.
Moving forward, I am committed to organising a TDD every year, as I strongly believe it is a vital investment in the team’s well-being and growth. I encourage every business to prioritise such events to create a more resilient, motivated, and productive workforce.
